Book Review: Adam Shove 'Desire'

“I often find myself lost in the poetry of your skin.”

Desire, offers a sentimental insight of poetic thoughts from Adam Shove.

Exploring a love story in depth with beautiful storytelling, Desire, has tender tones and poetic imagery stringing a story excellently together.

Knowing that nothing lasts forever, he explores the seduction, the love, the efforts, the dreams, and everything in-between in a soft yet witty manner. It’s truly a captivating poetry collection that will have the reader hooked from the first page.

He tries for better tomorrows in a wintery feel, this love tale includes splendid vocabulary that is engaging. As he mixes many themes, feelings, and thoughts together, the impactful read in, Desire, makes it clear that he pours every inch of his being into his creativity.

As he sips on red wine by candlelight, the raw and delicate weaved storytelling coloufully comes to life. It’s a great sit down read to bury oneself heavily in a book as the depthful emotions and excellent portrayal from beginning to end adds a lot of flavour.

With tear jerking moments as well as times where he illumates love, there’s a beautiful transition with this appealing and pleasurable read in, Desire.

The gripping on-the-edge storytelling experience is a compelling journey expressing that nothing lasts forever. Remembering a time being told not to write about the desired somebody, but to write about life, that this may not be permanent like their tattoos, Desire, speaks of uncertain tales of love and the unknown pleasures in-between.

Adam Shove is an Estonian and English poet, who writes poems laden with cryptic metaphors and pop culture references; doused in vodka and thrift shop ideas. He is inspired by RZA, Frank Ocean, second hand clothes, models, tattoos, and expensive cars.
