Book Review: K.Tolnoe 'The Orchid'

BOOK REVIEW

“I am homesick for myself.”

‘The Orchid’ by K.Tolnoe is the second of four books in ‘The Northern Collection’, which is a manifestation of the internal journey that we must face at some point in our lives; the journey to our truth north, our home.

As the book is just under 100-pages with hard hitting pieces that are thought provoking and resonating in parts, it’s a gut-wrenching and embraceful read.

The poems touch on topics like empathy, hope, sensitivity, different types of love, while leading back to oneself. Discussing eternal truth that all humans alike to orchids are unique and beautiful in their own way, the book highlights many delicate moments. There’s a beautiful flow to the read as each piece falls into place unfolding a roller coaster of emotions from being soft to being replaced with sharp edges, while being accompanied by wonderful illustrations.

There’s a great mix of short and long poems filled with positive vibes telling everyone has the ability to imagine a better world as we have the power to create it.

It’s a magnificent read exploring rebirth, self blooming, craving balance from grief and sorrows, to feeling buried in darkness by the heavy emotions displayed. It’s truly an exceptional book and addition to ‘The Northern Collection’.
