BOOK REVIEW
“Sometimes the right way to love, is to leave.”
The Wolf, is the final addition to the Northern Collection - a four part poetry journey leading the reader to their true north written by K.Tolnoe.
The book uncovers discoveries of finding one's voice and power in their passion. Just as wolves are known to roam in mysterious directions, this collection of poetry celebrates freedom, strength and stepping into the unknown with wonderment in just about 100-pages.
Each poem is heartfelt and expressful with themes of trauma and healing accompanied by beautiful illustrations. As the book progresses, there’s a soothing manner present with thought-provoking pieces concluding the four part book in the northern collection. Telling the tale of embracing the parts of one that never fits, letting go of a past version of oneself, and embracing one's inner wolf, The Wolf, is an empowering read.
There’s parts where her vulnerability truly shines through, especially on page 19 where she discusses knowing she deserved a better ending but couldn’t leave for as a writer she was intrigued. Moving on to welcoming independence, penning she’s used to being alone for it’s all she’s ever known.
There’s a great flow and rhythm present along with some sadder parts mentioning grief and the heavy burden it brings. Knowing sometimes we have to mourn things before they’re dead, feeling out of place, and over time realising she is a warrior and does not need to fight for everything now knowing her worth. She discusses having a habit of outgrowing everything she once was while showing strength. Before the end of the book, there’s a detangling moment through emotive material she wonderfully put into words. She truly has a way with writing something so elegantly with her wisdom.
The Wolf, is the final book in the Northern Collection followed by The Moon, The Orchid, and The Ocean written by K.Tolnoe.
