Critically acclaimed band Little Green Cars parted ways, but have now come formed again under the name Soda Blonde. To date, the Irish quartet has come a long way on their musical journey with a new, refreshing sound and name, and have just released their brand new EP.
Dublin-based alternative-pop band Soda Blonde have been putting their time to creative use recently with the release of their sophomore four-track extended-play, isolation-content.
The glorious EP opens with ‘I Hear Birdz’ with some conversation spoken at the start before Faye’s beautiful voice comes in. It's a wonderful first track to the EP showcasing how well the band adjusted to the different and difficult current world situation [of COVID-19] wonderfully building up anticipation on what else the collection of tracks will offer.
Following this is, ‘Motion’ that has much mystique and groove that adds something different to the EP in a pleasant way. Musically, the beats are on point with a gorgeous tone to Faye’s voice that blends beautifully over the instrumentation.
Meanwhile, next up is ‘June’ where Faye’s voice carries the tune along with the rawness of the lyrics and passionate harmonies. Although it's slower compared to the rest of the songs, it adds something wonderful to the EP.
Last up to close the EP out with a promising title is ‘A Day At A Time’. It’s a great closing track that will leave the listener wanting more and excited for more music from Soda Blonde.
The EP consists of wonderfully, breathable alt-pop tracks that are full of depth, intrigue, and passion. Each song adds something new to the body of work making it a stand-out release and enduring from the get-go. It’s pleasant to listen to something that the creators are fully in control of and do things on their own terms.
The tracks offer great storytelling with reflective lyrics over a cohesive production that separates that songs from each other, but also brings them together to blend perfectly over the course of the EP.
Throughout the EP, there’s a vibrant feeling that will keep the listener engaged to play the entire record from start to finish, with Soda Blonde’s powerful music on display showcasing their effortless and ever-growing talent. Usually, there might just be one stand-out song on a release, but with, isolation-content, each track was perfectly chosen for this project and paid off.
The EP was created whilst in lockdown [during COVID-19] after finding a way to keep them working together in this situation, but separately so the band could still be creative and make music. It appears this environment paid off as they were more carefree considering the situation.
isolation-content, follows Soda Blonde's debut extended-play, Terrible Hands. This is another masterpiece to add to their excellent discography. They are immeasurably talented and a great addition to today’s music.
Soda Blonde are Faye O’Rourke (frontwoman), Adam O’Regan (keys and guitar), Donagh Seaver O’Leary (bass) and Dylan Lynch (drums).
