DVID has been writing since he was a child as a form of therapy for himself as a way to release through the years. This then led into his music evolution and he has been creating ever since. Citing musical influences from the likes of Drake, and Ricardo Arjona, he comments, “I’m influenced by art and artist who translate a story, or an experience in a way it can be digested, that can bring you to feel something you either deeply connect to or wouldn't otherwise have experienced any other way.”
He has just released his brand-new single ‘Memories Stay’, which is a record about those unique and genuine connections we make in life that no matter the differences, disagreements, distance or where life goes they remain somehow because of their value. People leave … but memories stay. He wants to be a voice with his music, creating resonating music that will be turning heads in time.
Throughout time his music has allowed him to grow into, he comments, “I feel like the relationship with my music gets more personal, appreciating the journey more for what it’s worth, wouldn’t have it any other way.” And with this, DVID performed at a show in his hometown of Jacksonville, FL this past year with some close friends and it was a highlight for him feeling everyone’s energy and hearing them sing those words back.
With the global pandemic of COVID-19 erupting a lot of things in the world over the last while, when asked how it has affected DVID’s music abilities, he comments, “it was definitely something I had to warm up to, the beginning was more about processing the situation, the world completely changed as it seemed almost overnight and the social and cultural impact of it all, but having the world in a way closed off helped me go deeper for sure, impacted me greatly creatively and as a whole.” On the positive side of things, it has given him a refreshing perspective about things he may have otherwise been neglecting. “The world may be “closed” but we can choose to be open.”
The connection drives him forward as a musical artist, “we have a lot more in common in this world than we have differences, music is a prime example of that,” he continues. DVID wants his listeners to feel, to spark, to take away anything from his music as it’s a plus for him, “I just want to return the gift that music has given me all my life.”
Closing out the interview, DVID ends the chat with one fun fact about himself, “I enjoy home improvement stuff, remodeling, changing spaces, etc . From a young age I learned a lot from my parents, always doing something.”
