Music Feature: My Autumn Amor

Updated: Sep 22, 2022

LA based songwriter Thomas Monroe is the mastermind behind MY AUTUMN AMOR. His music has consistently found its way to college and mainstream radio through many monikers and bands.

His musical journey began when his father gave him a casio keyboard and second hand guitars, while making him sing along with the Beatles vinyl records. After spending three years in high school as a homeless teenager, he began to sing to support himself; he’s now a contributor to UNICEF Guardian Circle children’s fund, and urges those who can, to contribute.

MY AUTUMN AMOR returns with ‘Believe’, from the five-track collection ‘Quiet Girl’. The collection blends hip hop beats with powerful Cobain vibes where he worked with upcoming producer JakePlus (Goner, Nequita Russell, Versatile G), who helped create the haunting new track with uncommon lyricism and a kaleidoscope of melodies that converts alternative into an altogether different kind of style. Packing an emotional punch that invites the listener on a climactic journey from self-doubt to personal redemption, MY AUTUMN AMOR is a force to be reckoned with.

“A dear friend of mine was struggling with self-doubt and literally walked out on her own debut art show. The song is a bit of encouragement. It’s also about how artists feel the world so intensely, it overwhelms them in both its beauty and ugliness, but you have to commit to your journey as an artist, and the fact that you help others to see or feel life at a new depth,” MY AUTUMN AMOR comments on the inspiration of ‘Believe’.

Continuing the conversation about his music, MY AUTUMN AMOR discusses that he wants his listeners to take away inspiration when listening to his music, “Joseph Campbell said a vital person vitalizes the world around them. The way to be vitalized is to have the courage to follow your heart. That’s the only way you save yourself and save the world around you.”

As the global pandemic of COVID-19 struck the world, this period of time was hard on a lot of industries, especially the music scene. MY AUTUMN AMOR mentions that this period of time gave him lots of time to work on the aesthetic presentation of my work, and think a lot about the visual aspect of music.

Closing out the interview with mentioning that he’s doing a worldwide promotion, post production of his movie, and making a new 13-song album in 2022, “I can’t wait to share all the releases.”
